About the artist

local artist and art instructor

At an early age, while living in the San Francisco East Bay, Beverly Johnson began to realize the beginning of her creative nature.   She studied oil painting starting in high school and has explored various mediums over her years as a wife and mother of 3 children and a grandmother of 3. A patient and gifted teacher, Johnson has taught art privately to many local area youths.  Today Beverly displays her works at her working studio, Beverly Johnson’s Studio C. Her studio is located at 125 W. Clark Avenue in Old Orcutt, CA.  Currently, Johnson devotes herself to acrylic, oil, and silk mediums.  Her acrylic pours burst with vibrant color and contrast that draw one in to take a closer look. Johnson’s complexly layered abstractions on canvas suggest beaches, desert landscapes, and even waterfalls reflecting a fiery summer sky.  She also paints on silk, creating scarves and silk mounted on canvas.  The playful silk work has a stained glass quality and designs that include wine glasses, central coast rolling hills, and other subjects of interest.  The artist says of her work, ‘I love the element of surprise in my work.  It adds a welcoming challenge to the creative process.

Beverly offers drawing and painting classes on ZOOM and in person at her studio.

When I am out of the studio, I am off-site teaching during business hours, 10 am – 5 pm. Please call and leave a message.

Thank you, Beverly
